Treatment is available; it is important to start treatment as soon as possible after diagnosis to improve your overall health and decrease the risk of spreading illness to others. Confidential testing and treatment options are available at many local health care facilities, including community partners. Nassau County Department of Health offers services to persons with HIV or other STIs and their sexual or needle-sharing partners. Partner Services works with people to plan the best way to notify their sex and needle-sharing partners about their exposure to an STI or HIV. Partner Services is voluntary and confidential. In addition the Department of Health offers Ryan White HIV Services. The Ryan White Care Act is a federally funded grant to provide services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Nassau & Suffolk counties.
