Provides a variety of support services for families with a child diagnosed with autism, including care management, and are at different stages of their life. Helps parents who are learning to cope with autism for the first time, or parents whose children are older, for siblings, grandparents, and caregivers.

Support and education available for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Education programs, support groups, respite care, outreach, in-home assessment and care consultations are available. This grant targets underserved communities in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Provides vital mediation services to the litigants in child support disputes and potentially other areas of need. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. Provides an Early Intervention(EI) and Committee on Preschool Special Education(CPSE) related services for children ages 0-5 who have developmental delays in areas including: communication, physical and motor, cognitive, social and emotional, and adaptive skills. Performs evaluations in all areas including diagnosing autism spectrum disorder. Offers individual treatment plans including: speech and language therapy including PROMPT physical and occupational therapy, special education, feeding therapy, nutritional and parent counseling, sensory integration training, play therapy, applied behavioral analysis (ABA), and education of the visually and hearing impaired. Offers bilingual services and evaluations, Mommy and Me groups, parent support groups, family training and transition counseling. School aged services through the Committee on Special Education (CSE) provided as indicated on the children's IEP. Trainings and workshops provided to schools, daycare and parent groups. INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENTProfessional case management to persons at risk of hospitalization who need close relationships with a supportive mental health worker.

Provides 40 housing units with supportive and permanent housing to individuals and families that are homeless and have a disability, including those with a severe and persistent mental illness, chronic illness or substance use, or physical impairments. All residents receive case management services to assist with an independent lifestyle.

Offers free limited legal advice and assistance on topics including child support, custody, divorce, domestic violence, school discipline, education services, foreclosure, bankruptcy, consumer protection, debt collection, housing, immigration, public benefits, social security, health insurance, criminal records and more. These services are provided free of charge by the following agencies: Community Legal Advocates of New York, Empire Justice Center, Liberty Defense Project, Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, Long Island Advocacy Center, Nassau Suffolk Law Services, Suffolk County Bar Association, and Touro Law Center.

Middle Country Public Library is proud to be the first library in the nation to offer the Nature Explorium, an outdoor learning space for children and families. When children have regular contact with nature, they learn and grow better. Dedicated to exploration and discovery, the Nature Explorium provides children with the opportunity to learn and reinforce valuable life experiences, including the development of observation skills, visual-spatial skills, and social skills. By providing this outdoor area for the community, the Library offers a unique way to connect literacy, learning and an appreciation for nature as a regular part of the library visit.
