May be able to help crime victims (family members also may be eligible for help) with medical bills and counseling expenses; burial and funeral costs; lost wages; and other types of assistance. The OVS also funds a network of victim service providers across New York State. Search for victim services providers near you at the website https://ovs.ny.gov/locate-programVictims' claims for compensation for crimes are handled by the Crime Victims Board. Forms for victims to fill out are available from the sheriff or police departments.Eligibility Requirements: Provides compensation benefits to innocent victims who sustained personal injury or their survivors in the case of homicide. Child victims, disabled victims, victims over the age of 60 and victims of certain crimes may be eligible for certain categories of compensation without sustaining injury.
