Provides preschool age children with hearing loss, communication disorders, and/or multiple disabilities a small class milieu, 5 days a week, in a Total Communication, Language Rich Environment (LRE). Instruction, following New York State Education Department standards, is provided using Total Communication - spoken, signed and written language - to meet students' individual communication needs. Related services, including Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapies, as well as counseling are available. Audiological services such as hearing tests and minor device repair (hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.) are provided on-site by licensed audiologists. Academic based "Specials," such as Art, Drama and Music are also offered. Sign language classes and other support services are available to families through the Parent Center.

Peer Advocates provide an outreach program for recipients of mental health services in the community and for patients receiving treatment at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in the Behavioral Health Service Unit. Peer-Linkage Advocates work with patients, family members, and outside sources, providing reassurance and notifying patients of all available services. The goal of Peer Advocates is to see that each patient has access to the best and most suitable resources. Information & Resources available include:

• Self-help
• Social clubs
• Information on legal rights for psychiatric patients
• Self-help groups
• Referrals to community services and programs

Peer Advocates:

• Work with people who have psychiatric diagnoses
• Work with friends and family members to help them to understand the process in the hospital
• Keep clients informed about all available services
• Make sure that the client will receive the best services and care available

Peer Advocates are limited to helping admitted patients at NFMMC only. The Peer Advocacy Program also caters to educational needs and has established an advocacy information center and network.

Provides emergency services on a walk-in or referral basis, including:

• Food pantry access
• Cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, diapers, and baby wipes (while supplies last)
• Vouchers for clothing and household items
• Emergency rental assistance to prevent eviction (based on funding availability)
• Emergency utility assistance to avoid service disconnection (based on funding availability)

Case management services are available to connect individuals and families with essential community resources, develop individualized plans, and provide ongoing support with the goal of empowering participants to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency while addressing immediate needs.

READY Genesee is designed to help citizens learn how to protect themselves and their families against all types of hazards. The focus of the content is on how to develop, practice, and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during, and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity for individuals and their families to survive following a disaster in the event they must rely on their own resources.

Online eligibility questionnaire to help parents determine their eligibility for financial support from the state's Child Care Assistance Program for low or no-cost child care. Immediately lets parents know whether they meet the basic criteria for eligibility and directs them to the local department of social services to apply for funding. Questionnaire is available in 12 languages.

The community's convenient location allows residents to take an elevator to doctor's appointments or walk right next door to participate in activities at the Senior Center. Standard 12 month lease. Provides adult GED program, GRASP home study program, adult basic education, life management program, and English as a Second Language. Over 20 vocational training programs are available, including welding, food services, electrical trades, etc. TASC Preparation classes available in Batavia, Leicester, Genesee County Jail, Livingston County Jail, and Wyoming County Jail. Works with business and agencies to tailor classes.

Provides services focused on permanency for children through reunification or adoption, and advocates for each child's needs. Serves children of all backgrounds and ages, providing care from infancy through age 21. Every effort is made to place each child or group of siblings with the most appropriate foster family based on their family dynamics and unique strengths. Works throughout communities large and small to develop a diverse team of qualified foster parents. Foster care home-finding staff consists of current and/or former foster parents who recruit, train, and assist families in navigating the pre-certification process. In addition to a home-finder staff liaison, each family is provided with a caseworker who is available for ongoing support 24 hours a day. Through regular communication and quarterly home visits post-certification, staff offer guidance and resources necessary for success. Foster parents are provided a variety of training including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Solution Focused Trauma Informed Care, not only during their certification process, but throughout their time as foster parents with Gateway Longview. Therapeutic foster care services provide a family environment with intensive support services to children and youth when it is assessed that the birth family and/or other service programs cannot provide the individual care required to meet the child's needs. All services are coordinated pursuant to the earliest return of the child to its birth family.
