The AmeriCorps Builds Lives through Education (ABLE) Early Childhood program mobilizes individuals in national service to revive and strengthen educational environments, expanding opportunities for today's youth. Individuals serving in the program work to enhance the quality and impact of early childhood programming in Western New York. Program focuses on early childhood school readiness and addresses the need for more prepared early childhood teachers to work with ethnically diverse, low-income urban populations. ABLE Early Childhood provides tools to help members build careers in early childhood education and more effectively prevent future academic and developmental delays for students. ABLE Early Childhood members serve full-time up to 10-months in early childhood classrooms, working with 3- 4-and 5-year-old children. Members serve alongside lead teachers and are coached on early childhood teaching techniques. ABLE Early Childhood also operates the ABLE Summer Learning program, for which members serve full-time for eight weeks during the summer helping to offset summer learning loss for students in grades K-12. Provides up to $50,000 for qualifying emergency repairs to eligible homeowners impacted by the tornadoes and flooding that occurred across New York State in July 2024. Grants will be awarded based on a scope of work approved by local administrators according to program guidelines. Homeowners in affected regions (see Eligibility below) can apply to receive funding to cover the cost of urgent repairs necessary to bring their home into a safe and habitable condition.

Provides 24-hour services from trained personal care aides and home health aides. Also provides a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program to meet the needs of individuals with TBI who require nursing home level care but who prefer to live in their own home or private residence. TBI Program participants receive daily living supports from Home and Community Support Services (HCSS) aides.

Offers evaluation and treatment of a variety of conditions. Physical Therapy treatment typically includes hands-on therapeutic intervention to restore joint motion and improve strength. A Physical Therapist evaluates the individual's ability to perform gross motor skills (such as sitting, walking, running), postural assessment, muscle strength, joint range of motion (flexibility), balance, and coordination.

Community center with a recreation room and computer room. Serves as a Warming Center in times of extreme cold. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Heating/Cooling Center is open before going there.

Public transportation for Wyoming County including medical transportation for Wyoming County residents. Handicap accessibility and senior fares available. Call or visit online for a detailed list of routes. Operates a free grocery run from Perry to the Village of Warsaw Tops Friendly Markets bi-weekly on Tuesdays.

An outreach program that provides services to pregnant and/or parenting teens (mothers and fathers, including their caregivers) attending Buffalo Public Schools. Coordinates support services by forming links between families, community agencies, and schools. Also provides resource services and information that supports the physical, social, and emotional development of both the student and the child. Services provided include:

• Resources pertaining to pregnancy, child rearing, and home life, including referrals to community organizations that specialize in working with pregnant and parenting teens
• Assistance with completing and submitting important paperwork, such as for family court, paternity, child support or day care vouchers, and BPS pre-school applications
• Assistance with scheduling and keeping medical appointments
• Help with academic needs, including home instruction and tutoring programs
• Monitoring of academic and career goal paths and achievement
• School and home visitation
• Provision of new and gently used baby items

Free summer lunch for kids and teens ages 18 and under as well as young adults with disabilities through age 21. Meals must be eaten on site.

Offers an array of Public Clinics and Services to Genesee County residents including Childhood and Adult Immunizations, Tuberculosis Screening and Treatment, confidential Sexually Transmitted Disease screening, and anonymous, confidential AIDS/HIV counseling and testing. Services may be covered by insurance or clients may be eligible for free care.

Strives to meet the needs of people with HIV/AIDS through services from on-staff physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, case managers, nutritional consultants, drug counselors, and mental health counselors as well as through partnerships with a myriad of community agencies. Comprehensive Services

• HIV Medical Care: On-staff physicians and nurse practitioners are highly trained and experienced and many are faculty at the State University of New York at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

• Primary Care: Each medical provider is also able to address the primary care needs of patients. Referrals for specialty services can be made, and most can be provided on site.

• Women's HIV Services: YOU Center provides these services onsite to meet women's gynecological needs including prenatal care, with an additional focus on preventing transmission to the baby. HIV positive women are referred for appropriate and comprehensive obstetric care upon pregnancy toward safe and healthy delivery.

• Adherence Pharmacology: Through a partnership with the University at Buffalo's School of Pharmacology, highly trained pharmacists are on site to offer education to providers and patients regarding disease process, treatment options, and ongoing individualized medication management.

• Case Management Services: Each patient has the opportunity to meet with a medical case manager who is able to assist them with benefit management and support around their diagnosis, promoting their ongoing access to medical care. Referrals are provided to community agencies and programs as defined by the patient's need.

• Rural Care Initiative: Provides HIV-infected individuals in the rural communities of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua Counties with access to high quality medical treatment, case management services and support services without requiring them to travel great distances.

• Research Initiatives: Research staff conduct projects that examine current trends in HIV care and focus on examining the efficacy of current medical interventions, containing costs, and looking at how a person's genetics affect their medical progress.

• HIV Testing: Offers free diagnostic testing service on a walk-in basis during regular business hours. Testing is also offered throughout the facility. Additionally, staff members provide community-based testing, service needs assessment, and referral linkage in high risk areas and at many community events.

• Referral Basis: Patients can be referred for chemical dependency and mental health services, including psychiatric and neuropsychiatric evaluations.

• Clinical Education Initiative: Offers relevant up-to-date education and training on HIV/AIDS and other related topics to community providers throughout WNY, often available for on-site training sessions tailored to meet the needs of organizations. Mini-Residency Program offers introductory and advanced clinical training for Community and Correctional Health Care Providers. Phone consultation with an HIV specialist is available 24/7 to respond to providers' needs for general clinical consultation and for the management of post exposure prophylaxis.

Provides substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Services include substance use disorder evaluation, treatment including individual and group therapy, medication assisted treatment (MAT) including Buprenorphine (Suboxone), Vivitrol, and Naltrexone, drug and alcohol testing, mental health counseling and medication management, family counseling, adolescent counseling, peer support, and impaired driver evaluation. Certified by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS). All services are strictly confidential. The Downtown Buffalo facility is located in the northeast corner suite of the first floor of the historic Ellicott Square Building. All offices are open, but both in-person and telehealth services are available. ##REENTRY##

A single location where customers can access the services provided by the Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Conservation District. Farm Service Agency administers federal farm programs and farm loan programs.

Works with individuals living with mental illness who have been non-compliant with past treatment which has led to multiple hospitalizations, threats, or acts of violence toward self or others. If an individual is not able to be engaged in appropriate services, a court petition may be filed to request an order for AOT. Recipients are monitored for treatment compliance and to ensure provision of appropriate services.

Provides quality, developmentally appropriate childcare and education to the children of students, working families, and community members in a nurturing, secure, and respectful way. Curriculum activities provide children with fun, hands-on, engaging learning experiences that follow the interests of the children and promote pro-social skills. Learning experiences include opportunities for daily outdoor play, creative arts expression, math and science exploration, story time, dramatic play, block, and manipulative play.

Serves as a detention center for pre-trial felony or misdemeanor defendants and those convicted of misdemeanors or violations in county or town courts. Occasionally houses inmates from other counties or for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Border Patrol, and the United States Marshals Service. Correctional Services, under the direct supervision of the Jail Superintendent, is responsible for the safe and secure operation of the Orleans County Jail.
