CCMI assigns Credible Messengers—mentors who share similar life experiences—to guide youth who have faced incarceration or out-of-home placements. In addition, Parent Partners provide direct support to families navigating the challenges of raising system-involved children. This trauma-informed, community-based initiative serves both Suffolk and Nassau counties and addresses barriers such as housing, education, legal support, and job readiness. Youth also receive mentoring, career exploration through work-based learning, stipends, and monthly family dinners to promote healing and growth.
