Brighter Tomorrows offers short-term counseling to survivors of domestic violence and their children (age 5+). These therapeutic sessions offer survivors hope, facilitate their healing, and foster personal empowerment. Our counseling services are available to both mandated and voluntary clients and are free of charge. Counseling services are provided at residential and non-residential facilities, as well as virtually.

Provides financial assistance to help low-income households meet home energy costs.Regular Benefits range from $20 to $500. Amounts depend on income, age of household members, energy costs and shelter situation. Typically it is a one-time only benefit during the program year.Emergency Benefits are available for persons who are eligible for HEAP and have an energy-related emergency such as a power shutoff, less than ¼ tank oil, kerosene or propane or have less than 10 days' supply of wood, pellets or coal. Applicant households must meet a resource test. Benefit amounts vary. Typically it is a one-time only benefit during the program year.Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement Benefits are available to repair or replace a furnace, boiler, or other direct heating equipment necessary to keep the home's primary heating source working.Cooling Assistance Benefits are available to purchase and install an air conditioner or a fan to help keep the home cool. Individuals must have already received a regular benefit greater than $21 and have a documented medical condition that is exacerbated by heat.Clean and Tune Benefits are available to clean the household's primary heating equipment, but may also include chimney cleaning, minor repairs, installation of carbon monoxide detectors or programmable thermostats, if needed, to allow for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of the heating equipments. Benefit amounts are based on the actual cost incurred to provide clean and tune services, up to a maximum of $400.

Through this environment, instructors engage with students, provide learning activities and materials, and conduct assessments. Student can expect to find engagement, activities and assessment, provided by their instructors, to fully participate in the course. Distance education is an attractive option for individuals who need flexibility and are self-motivated and can work independently. There is no difference in what you are expected to learn; it is the modality delivery that is different. The different types of online education courses include: Online (ONLINE) – engagement and instruction is provided by the professor through Brightspace the college’s learning management system, and students interact with faculty, other students and content working on their own time while adhering to course deadlines; Hybrid/Blended –Instructors meet with students in a classroom on one of the campus locations and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace; or the instructor meets with students in a virtual classroom i.e. Zoom and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace. Ergo, this is a blended format. Blended meetings may be weekly, monthly, or a specific number of times per semester as dictated by an instructor but meeting dates must be clearly advertised in the Banner course schedule and displayed in the course outline; Combined Online 50% Online and 50% online in real time; Real Time Online recreates a classroom experience with your instructor and other class members using live virtual instruction (Zoom) on scheduled days and times; and HyFlex – Simultaneously, some students attend on-campus and some students attend online in real time while all are enrolled in the same course.
