Drug Crisis in Our Backyard is pleased to offer Family Support Groups, an interactive forum for family support and education. We have recurring meetings where parents and families can obtain information and support in dealing with problems with drug misuse and addiction in their homes.

Ulster County Emergency Warming Center at Clinton Ave United Methodist Church is a temporary shelter open to the public when Ulster County declares a Code Blue emergency. Open from 7:00 pm-7:00 am when open. Call for information.

Perishable and non-perishable food is purchased/donated from large and small commercial food donors including retail locations, distributors, and wholesalers, as well as from food drives done by community groups, schools, and businesses. This food is then distributed to over 450 community-based member agencies throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, and other nonprofit organizations with feeding programs.

WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for women who are pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding, infants and children up to age 5. WIC provides breastfeeding support, referrals, food benefits, and nutritional advice and guidance.

Embury Apartments is a 192 unit apartment complex opened in 1972 to serve low to middle income independent seniors. It is a 14-story building with elevators. Pets are allowed. Studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are available. Each apartment has an emergency pull cord. There are resident lounges, laundry facilities, vegetable and flower gardens, and a library of books and DVDs and educational and cultural programs.. It is on the bus line and a shopping bus is available. There is a security staff and there are no steps or stairs.

Offers anyone, especially frail elderly, a cool down location during extreme heat waves or power shut downs.

This program provides delivery of a daily meal 5 times a week, which meets 1-3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance.

Provides an integrated preschool setting which enrolls children with and without disabilities. The class setting offers half and full day sessions with individualized and small groups of various subjects, working at the levels of verbal behavior which range from emergent listener to emergent reader/writer.

Offers a six-week summer camp program at Harbor Island Park, running late June – early August, for school-age children with a variety of fun and educational activities.

Works with families to assist transition from foster care back to the home environment.
