DBCH Provides routine childhood vaccinations and recommended adult vaccines. Also officers travel vaccinations for those who will be traveling out of the county.

Provides assistance and care to families immediately in the event of natural and other disasters including home fires, flood, and power outages due to storms.

EISEP provides homemaker services to Smithtown senior citizens age 60 and older. Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides case management to all recipients. Homemakers perform shopping, laundry, and light housekeeping.

The Building Department is responsible for the administration of the NYS Building Code, NYS Fire Prevention Code, and the NYS Energy Code, the Planning and Zoning regulations, the Federal Flood Plain Regulations and various other local laws assigned to the Building Inspector for administration and enforcement by the Town Board. The Building Department secretary schedules building construction inspections, receives complaints concerning all areas of code administration, maintains records and collects fees for any operation that require fee collection for permits. The inspectors review permits for code conformance, inspect new construction, make fire code inspections, inspect for code enforcement problems, prepare reports, and meet with individuals concerning any code matters.

Provides permanent housing opportunities, a rent stipend that parallels a HUD Section-8 stipend, and supportive staff.

Provides a food pantry, and receives clients strictly by appointment. Also offers $100 towards unpaid utility bills for those in need as a one-time incentive. Must provide letter from Social Services, as well as a copy of the utility bill.

VCS Coaches help their clients to become aware of and improve their habits, understand and learn from their emotions, and take active, empowered steps that lead to change. Coaches are trained over the course of 12 sessions, created and presented by VCS staff.

Makes decisions on school curriculum, decisions regarding discipline, school closures and other educational issues which affect the teachers and students. Parents/guardians wanting to gain information about these matters can call the administration office.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Readers Advisory. Offers a wide range of programs which may include exercise classes, informative programs, and AARP Defensive Driving.

Military Spouse Scholarships are awarded to spouses of Uniformed Services members active duty, National Guard and Reserve, retirees, and survivors to obtain professional certification or to attend post secondary or graduate school. Scholarships range in amount from $500 to $1,000, and the number awarded each year varies depending on funding. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, and school room and board. Scholarship selection is based on your completion of some survey questions that will help NMFA advocate for education changes on your behalf, short-answer questions, and an essay question that will help us get to know you better. Additonal scholarships are provided to spouses of the wounded, injured or fallen.

Volunteers are trained to monitor the progress of children in foster care.
