Offers suicide intervention prevention and awareness skills trainings: ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. A two-day intensive, interactive and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize, review risk and intervene to prevent suicide. Safetalk - Three hour workshop emphasizes the importance of recognizing the signs of suicide and communication skills to help the person at risk. Talk Saves Lives/Suicide Prevention and Awareness - An introduction to suicide prevention, a one hour presentation that covers the scope of suicide prevention and how to fight suicide. Youth Mental Health First Aid - An eight hour program which introduces participant of the risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents.

Operates a foster network to care for homeless cats and kittens as space allows. Adoptable cats and kittens can be seen at our Cat Shelter in Montour Falls. Also available dogs for adoption. All dogs will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, distemper, leptospirosis, parvo and kennel cough, treated for fleas and parasites, tested for heartworm and micro chipped.

Provides pre-screening and application assistance to families and individuals attempting to access the food stamp/SNAP program. Also provides nutrition education to help individuals make smarter and healthier food choices.

Provides assistance enrolling eligible individuals in Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care applications for Aged, Blind and Disabled. Additional help is provided navigating the health insurance marketplace for people not eligible for state health insurance options.

Provides primary medical care including dental care, lab services, women's health services, hospice care, diabetes screening and care, internal medicine and medical social work. Offers various wellness programs. Not all services are available through the clinics.

The Office for the Aging offers many services for the senior residents of Steuben County including, but not limited to, information and referral, nutrition through congregate meals, advocacy, support groups, transportation services, caregiver services, case management, and the Bone Builders and Senior Meal Programs. Bone Builders and the Senior Dinner Clubs are overseen by Pro Action of Steuben-Yates.

Pick up and impound or return if known, to their owner’s domestic dogs who have strayed from their homes. Works with participating school districts through Greater Southern Tier BOCES to provide classroom speakers, field trips, business site visits, internships, mentoring, mock interviews, architectural awareness, job shadowing, career days, and various school to work initiatives.

Maintains a listing of support groups for those suffering from, or for family and friends of individuals suffering from heart disease or stroke.

Contracted by Chemung County to provide services for child, adolescent and adult residents with acute and persistent emotional and mental health problems through NYS OMH licensed outpatient mental health clinic services. Programs support emotional, social, and mental health promotion, psycho-education, and recovery. The clinic offers early intervention prior to onset of chronic or severe psychiatric problems; seeks to prevent hospitalization or re-hospitalization; and offers community education and consultation services for clients, their families, and the community. Services are prioritized for children and adolescents identified as Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and adults identified as Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI).
