The Ombudsman Program is an effective advocate and resource for older adults and persons with disabilities who live in nursing homes, assisted living and other licensed adult care homes. Ombudsmen help residents understand and exercise their rights to good care in an environment that promotes and protects their dignity and quality of life.

The North Country Chronic Disease Coalition’s goal is for each Health System Service Area to have developed and started implementation of a Community-Clinical action plan. The Para Transit system is an alternative, curb-to-curb public transportation designed to "mirror" the Bee-Line fixed-route service in terms of service times and areas. No assistance is provided to individuals between their door and the Para Transit vehicle. Assistance is provided ONLY to help board and exit vehicles. Para Transit is required to provide service only if both the starting point and the destination of a trip are located within 3/4 mile of a Bee Line transit route.

Provides comprehensive Case Management and support services, including support groups to HIV infected individuals and their familes. Also provides risk counseling for individuals at high risk for HIV infection in the Nassau County Community as well as the Nassau County Correction Center. Also offers education and outreach services.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a Federally funded program that assists eligible households in meeting their home energy needs. If eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit opened on November 1, 2024. The 2024-2025 First and Second Emergency is scheduled to open January 2, 2025. The 2024-2025 Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024. The 2024-2025 HEAP Clean and Tune benefit opened on October 1, 2024. The 2024-2025 Cooling Assistance Benefit is schedule to open on April 15, 2025.

The Town of Huntington offers free “Boating Safety Classes” in March and May. Attendees ages 10+ who register, attend the full 8-hour course, and pass the test will receive a NYS Boating Safety credential issued by NYS Parks.
