The Lake Placid Water Department, located in Lake Placid, NY, is an utility company that operates the public water system. The Water Department, or Water Utility, provides potable tap water to residential customers, businesses, and others in Essex County. Lake Placid residents can contact the Water Department to start or stop water services, for drinking water reports, or for billing and payment information.

Embury Apartments is a 192 unit apartment complex opened in 1972 to serve low to middle income independent seniors. It is a 14-story building with elevators. Pets are allowed. Studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are available. Each apartment has an emergency pull cord. There are resident lounges, laundry facilities, vegetable and flower gardens, and a library of books and DVDs and educational and cultural programs.. It is on the bus line and a shopping bus is available. There is a security staff and there are no steps or stairs.

Currently accepts dogs certified through: Pet Partners and Love on a Leash. If you are interested in applying to the program, please reach out to Volunteer Services prior to beginning the application process to discuss further. If it is determined that there is a shift that is mutually convenient, you will be asked to complete a Senior Volunteer Application and provide a copy of your dog’s health records and proof of liability insurance. The pet therapy applicant must complete all requirements of the volunteer program prior to beginning their volunteer service. Only canines certified by Therapy Dogs International, Pet Partners, or Love on a Leash are permitted to participate in the Pet Therapy program at SBUH.
