Investigates reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment; documents substantiated cases; provides for the temporary placement of children who, for their own protection, have been removed from the custody of the adults who are responsible for their care; works with families who are experiencing a problem with child abuse with the objective of facilitating continued family unification or reunification; and provides ongoing supportive services for children in permanent placement.

Single family home made available for up to 3 years to qualified larger families.

Dental hygiene clinic serving the public. Appointments are provided by dental hygiene students and supervised by faculty; sessions are approximately 3 hours in length to accommodate teaching. One or more appointments may be required and will include a combination of services. Treatment is provided based on the individual needs of the patient and will be determined during the initial exam. Free available services include:

• Dental cleaning (prophylaxis)
• Advanced deep scaling and root planing
• Dental x-rays
• Intra/extra-oral exam cancer screening
• Nutritional and tobacco cessation counseling
• Home care instructions of gums and teeth
• Polishing to remove stains
• Fluoride treatments (various)
• Sealants
• Recommendations and referrals for outside follow up care
• Anesthetic is available for sensitive patients

A comprehensive child development Early Head Start program designed to serve income eligible pregnant women, infants, and toddlers up to the age of 3 including children with disabilities and their families. Provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families, and pregnant women and their families. Provides early learning, care and enrichment experiences to children in an early care and education setting. Staff members also visit family homes at least twice per year.

Health and safety program that is dedicated to improving health outcomes and better quality of life for Niagara County Residents. The program has six focus areas;1. Fire Prevention, 2. Air Quality, 3. Preventing Lead Poisoning, 4. Fall & Accident prevention, 5. Smoking Education & Cessation, and 6. Asthma prevention from environmental triggers. The HNP team is staffed by a Health Educator-Manager, and Health Technicians. Technicians assess homes during a visit, provides recommendations and free products to improve health and wellbeing. Products may include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, asthma relief products, and cleaning supplies. The HNP is not an enforcement agency. All identifying information gathered during visits will remain confidential.

Psychiatric day treatment program for youth in grades 6-12 that may benefit from enhanced clinical care within an academic setting. Provides educational and clinical services to students in a 6:1:1 classroom setting at a standalone facility. Students receive educational services along with individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and medication management when necessary. Students can also access crisis support services when therapeutically necessary. Integrated mental health services are provided within a strength-based recovery model. Partners with Erie 1 BOCES component school districts, Buffalo Public Schools, and families in the referral process, and collaborates with both families and school districts to reintegrate youth into a less restrictive academic setting. Also assists with linkages to community support services to support recovery. Average length of outpatient treatment is 3-6 months or as soon as the student meets their established treatment goals to be discharged to a less restrictive setting.

Services provided without regard to income to assist people age 18 or older who have physical or mental impairments to the extent that they cannot meet their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter or medical care; are unable to protect themselves from neglect, abuse or hazardous situations; and have no one willing or able to help them in a responsible manner. Personal Care Services Aide Program: Provides some or total assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, and feeding; nutritional and environmental support functions and health related tasks. Such services should be essential to the maintenance of the patient's health and safety within his/her own home, ordered by the attending physician based on an assessment of the patient's needs by a qualified person in accordance with a plan of care, and supervised by a registered professional nurse. Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program: New York State recognizes that some patients who need personal assistance also have a strong desire to manage their own services. Consumer Directed Personal Assistance allows patients to screen, interview, hire, train and supervise their attendants.

Offers information and assistance, education, and screening for older adults ages 60 and older, adults and children with disabilities, as well as family members, caregivers, and professionals.

Three-year-old programs offer "hands on" approach to learning. Two-year-old programs offer individualized attention necessary for a first time school experience.

Provides the following services:

• Inspection and sampling for community water supplies
• Sewage system installation approval, for a fee
• Inspection of private sewage and water system for property transfers
• Soil testing
• Inspection and permitting of food service establishments, children's camps, recreational camps, and mobile home parks
• Investigation of complaints that indicate a potential cause of community health problems
• Rabies program (see separate listing)

Provides frozen meals available via pickup from participating senior center locations throughout Erie County. Seniors can choose between a 3, 5, 6, 8 or 10 meal pack that can be picked up once a week from participating locations. A roll, milk, and dessert are included with each meal.

Provides one-on-one support, training, information, referrals, advocacy, education, and parent support groups for adoptive or guardianship parents.

The driver evaluation program determines an individual’s ability to begin or resume driving, taking into consideration a person’s physical, cognitive, and visual deficits. It is the only medical-based evaluation program in WNY. Evaluations and licensed driver training are performed exclusively by specially trained occupational therapists in driver rehabilitation.
