The Greene County Department of Human Services Nutrition Program allows seniors to remain independent in their homes while maintaining good nutrition. Home Delivered Meals are provided to those unable to prepare meals for themselves. Volunteers deliver these meals Monday through Friday (except holidays) throughout Greene County. This program provides seniors the opportunity to improve and/or maintain their nutrition, health status, and quality of life while remaining in their home. Each senior service center serves a noon-time meal consisting of a hot entree, vegetable and fruit, bread and butter, low fat milk and a dessert. Substitutions are available for those on diabetic or low-salt diets. The Nutrition Education Program provides a registered dietitian who does nutritional education on a one-on-one counseling level if needed by clients.

Braille classes, support groups, respite care for adults who have developmental disabilities in addition to visual impairments. Offers a listing of employment opportunities for job seekers, with companies in various communities, and resume writing and assistance with unemployment benefit applications, including helping teenagers look for summer jobs. Also offer twice monthly career series which provides resume review, job application help etc.

Offers three ESL programs for students who are non-native speakers of English and may require specialized English language instruction. The three ESL programs offer instruction in listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar to students for whom English is a second language. The ESL programs include both part-time and full-time developmental classes on a noncredit basis* and a third program which offers developmental classes on a credit** basis. The aim of all three programs is to provide limited English-proficient students with a functional knowledge of the English language. The programs furnish students with the necessary communication skills to secure gainful employment, perform more effectively in daily life situations, and enroll in further college-level courses, if they so desire. Students should be aware that all ESL courses, credit or non-credit, are considered developmental. Therefore, they do not fulfill any degree or certificate requirements. Sullivan County's Crib For Kids Program is facilitated by the Healthy Families Program to help provide cribs and diapers to those in need.

Provides fire and ambulance services for Beacon City as well as an overnight warming center. The warming center is not a full shelter, tables and chairs only. Residents are welcome to bring their own supplies to stay warm.
