Provides behavioral and educational consultation and support to individuals, families, and professionals based upon them principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our consultation services and trainings are designed to teach those who support individuals with autism and other special needs (school and agency personnel, family members/caregivers, community members) by providing effective education, training, and support within the frameworks of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our Autism Supportive Environment program provides training and assistance to businesses and community organizations in designing environments which are more supportive for individuals with autism and other special needs and their families/caregivers.

Family Care provides a residential alternative for people with developmental disabilities to live in the community.

Provides education about Tourette Syndrome (TS) to professionals and the general public, generates funding for research about Tourette Syndrome and provides services to people with Tourette Syndrome and their families, such as support groups and social events. Provides support, assistance and advocacy for individuals and families needing help with issues relating to disabilities.

Collaborates with OPWDD to offer a person-centered career planning and support service that will help individuals with developmental disabilities reach their employment goals. Engages individuals with identifying a career/vocational direction, provide instruction and training in pre-employment skills, and develop a path for achieving competitive, integrated employment.

Provides group community habilitation working with individuals to explore theater, art, music and dance, gardening and other prevocational opportunities in and around the community.

Provides information and referral, family reimbursements, respite, advocacy, counseling, crisis intervention, home care, recreation, training, and transportation planning services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Provides support, advocacy, and a partnership with individuals and/or family members to develop, implement and maintain an individuals life plan to live independently.

Places trained providers in the home to provide rest and relief for the caregiver.

Provides an early intervention program for children birth-2.ll years. Program is center and home based for children with confirmed or suspected hearing loss and their parents. Offers a fully accredited elementary program recognized by New York State for deaf students. Also offers full after-school extended program including sports and computers. Program includes a mainstream program and alternative multi-handicapped program.

MHA collaborates with various agencies to provide one-to-one care for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Consultations and trainings are designed to assist staff to work effectively at sites with the most challenging students on the autism spectrum. These services are added to a District’s Commitment Form/student IEP when the service of a behavioral specialist or autism consultant is recommended by the CSE for implementation on a regular basis over a period of time. Autism consultants will address applied behavior analysis strategies, behavioral strategies, and educational strategies. Parent Training provides a bridge between home and school programs and can assist parents in utilizing strategies in the home that are consistent with those used in school to facilitate student progress. Home ABA Services are designed to meet the needs of component districts for students with autism spectrum disorders to provide for continuity and generalization. Methodologies include applied behavior analysis, discrete trial instruction, and task analysis. Progress is tracked and monitored to emphasize effective collaboration and consistency between home, school, and community.

Offers programs to students ages 11 – 12 in grades 6th – 8th. The Middle School Level Programs include: The Center-Based Functional Academic Skills Program. The Functional Academic Skills Program at Premm Learning Center services students with moderate to severe development disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of their disability. Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development, utilizing a modified Common Core Curriculum. Behavior management, independent living and social skills are also addressed. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program at Premm Learning Center emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are non-ambulatory and are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. Programs are offered at various locations.

Provides community based habilitation to developmentally disabled individuals, ages 21 and over who reside in Suffolk/Eastern Nassau with their families. This program operates in and out of the individual's home, and can provide support in the morning, afternoon, evening or weekend.

Provides safe and affordable private housing for individuals with disabilities who have the ability to live independently. Each person has their own room and share the common areas. Residents are encouraged to have part or full time employment. Case management is available to help individuals establish goals.

Day Habilitation Program operates under the OMRDD's Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). The programs serve people with a wide range of intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Day habilitation services help individuals achieve satisfying and rewarding connections and relationships within their communities. Services and supports revolve around the assumption that each person is a member of the community. The day habilitation program uses consumer skill acquisition and staff support to help people build relationships, to participate in the community, and to experience work and volunteerism. Volunteer work assignments allow individuals to contribute to their communities as well as to enhance and strengthen skills necessary for supported employment. Social and recreational opportunities and clinical needs are also addressed. Part-time attendance is offered to individuals who are engaged in supported 28 small community based locations throughout Nassau County.

Provides a Developmental Disabilities Program for residents of the East End. Activities include bowling, golf, dinner dances, day outings and bus trips.
