Provides professional development that improves teaching practices by providing educators with the tools and skills to help students meet the goals and objectives .The training provides educators with the skills to respond to student difficulties with the appropriate intervention. In accordance with the National Reading Panel, they provide evidence-based learning strategies for regular classes for diverse learners, not just those struggling with dyslexia. The training incorporates the latest research validated strategies to support learning within the five pillars of reading. These areas are:phonemic awareness, phonics/word study, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.

Oversees all PTA units in Nassau County. Promotes the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship. Provides a forum for parents and teachers to cooperate and establish a closer relationship between home and school.

Designed as a model school for teaching young children and teaching apprentices, DAY ONE TLC offers an in-house adult education. The teaching apprentices will have easy access to their mentor teachers in the children’s classroom, the developmental specialists, and the adult instructor for the apprenticeship program.

Serves as a statewide voice for more than 700 boards of education. Provides current information and advice on matters affecting school boards. Cooperates with other educational and related organizations to promote excellence in education. Provides advocacy information, leadership development and custom services to public school boards.

Provides technical assistance and professional development to adult education and family literacy programs funded by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The LI-RAEN is one of seven Regional Adult Education Networks funded by the NYSED through federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Title II funding. The seven RAENS, in coordination with the NYSED Office of Adult Education Programs and Policy (AEPP) Unit, provide technical assistance to assist adult education programs in meeting statewide benchmarks on the National Reporting System’s (NRS) core indicators. The LI-RAEN serves adult literacy program needs throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties and works closely with other public service agencies (e.g., state and local Departments of Labor, local Departments of Social Services) within the local workforce development systems to address emerging, transitional, and incumbent workers’ literacy needs.
