Provides a wide variety of services essential to the health and well-being of all Genesee County Residents. Service areas include public water supply protection, community sanitation and food protection, private water and sewage disposal systems, realty subdivision plan review, public health nuisances, residential lead investigations, chemical emergencies, rabies investigations, and enforcement of both the Adolescent Tobacco Use and Prevention Act (ATUPA) and the NYS Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA). The Environmental Health division also operates multiple anti-rabies immunization clinics annually to administer vaccines to domestic animals, including cats, dogs, and ferrets, in order to reduce the spread of the potentially life threatening disease.

Provides detailed environmental analysis of all proposed projects and makes specific recommendations to the Town Board. Develops and implements environmental improvement and protection projects including erosion control, wildlife habitat improvement, drainage projects, shellfish seeding programs, woodland restoration, and public awareness programs on the need for recycling.

The Building/Engineering Office is primarily responsible for enforcing the Village’s zoning regulations. The Office receives applications for building permits, certificates of occupancy, electrical permits, plumbing permits and blasting permits. The Office also enforces the Village’s Tree Law, which includes a variety of restrictions on tree removal. The Village Engineer is responsible for reviewing site development plans and advising the Planning Board on engineering matters. Additionally, the Village Engineer is responsible for overseeing various capital improvement projects in the Village of Briarcliff Manor.

The Yonkers Department of Housing and Buildings (DHB) is responsible for safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of Yonkers residents, business and property owners in the area of housing and building code enforcement. We issue building permits and certificates of occupancy, conduct inspections and investigate complaints regarding housing and building construction.

Attends all Town Board meetings and is responsible for the minutes, legal notices, certifications of Town records and filing of change of zone applications. Issues all licenses such as dog, hunting, fishing and marriage. Bingo and games of chance licenses, clamming, taxicab, tow truck, peddlers, refuse, auto junkyard, commuter parking permits and disability parking permits. Acts as Registrar of Vital Statistics for the issuance of Birth and Death Certificates as Commissioner of Elections for special elections and is the Records Manager Officer. The Records Center and Archives is also under the Town Clerk. The clerk can perform civil marriage ceremonies.

Town Clerk serves as the Registration of Vital Statistics, Records Management Officer, Marriage Officer and NYS & Town Licensing and Permitting Agent. Issues Marriage Affidavits/licenses, dog licenses, taxi and peddler licenses, parking, handicap and shellfish permits and hunting and fishing licenses. Files all Birth and Death Certificates for the unicorporated communites within Southampton Town. Fills Freedom of Information requests for Town Records.

Investigates complaints or reports of alleged violation of town ordinances such as illegal apartments or group rentals. Operates independent investigations, and may bring cases to Justice Court when violations are found.

The Building Department and Code Enforcement Officer is in place to enforce the New York State building and fire code within the Town of Hurley. He further ensures that all local zoning and planning laws are followed, issues building permits, makes periodic and final inspections, and issues a certificate of compliance or certificate of occupancy. He will investigate complaints from individuals, the Planning Board, and the Zoning Board, all toward their goal of making Hurley's businesses and residences the safest in New York State.

Department of Planning and Development is concerned with land use and assists the Town Board in the orderly growth and development of the Town. Also issues building permits/demolition permits, plumbers/electricians licenses, certificates of occupancy , and enforces the Town's building and zoning codes.
