Responsible for recording activities of the Town Government, and the central place in which are filed the documents and papers vital to the lives of townspeople. Issues various permits including hunting, fishing, shellfish, garbage, and handicapped parking. Provides birth and death certificates, and marriage licenses and certificates. Offers peddlers permits, yard sale permits, and dog licenses. Prepares Town Board agendas and is the record keeper of board minutes and contracts.

Helps groups or agencies looking for information about program planning, identifying and measuring outcomes, and/or program evaluation for activities for the youth in the county, also provides funding for youth programs.

Conducts lessons in environmental science for elementary and high school students in East Hampton, Shelter Island, Southampton, Bridgehampton and Riverhead. Lessons take place both in the classroom and in the field. Call for more information.

The Greenlawn Civic Association (GCA) is a group of volunteers working together to improve the community. Founded in 1990, the GCA with town and country officials on behalf of the community to improve quality of life in the Greenlawn area. The GCA has provided and contributed to many neighborhood enhancements over the years. Meeting held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Harborfields library

Houses applications to obtain permits/license, keeps records of civil actions. Also has a notary available for paperwork when needed.
