The New York State Comptroller is the State’s chief fiscal officer who ensures that State and local governments use taxpayer money effectively and efficiently to promote the common good. HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency provides home ownership and rental counseling, including pre-purchase, housing search assistance, financial education (consisting of budgeting, credit, banking, and goal setting), reverse mortgage, and mortgage default counseling. Individual Development Accounts: Offers matched savers programs to help save for Home Purchase, Education, and Small Business Development. Provides technical assistance to communities and other housing providers. Offers workshops for property owners on mold awareness, home repair, landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities, and lead-safe work practices. Staff provides affordable housing opportunities, referrals, and educational programs for tenants and landlords. Maintains listings of affordable apartments and Section 8 friendly apartments in WNY.
