Provides inpatient mental health care. Short-term, crisis care psychiatric hospitalization is provided for children, adolescents, and adults struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal thoughts, and other mental illness. Stabilization of the presenting psychiatric crisis is followed by a collaborative discharge plan using supportive outpatient services. Offers a program at Zucker Hillside which is among the oldest, most experienced and active in the nation. Services include psychiatric ECT consultation, as well as patient and family support. The treatment is appropriate for patients with serious depression who cannot be safely treated with antidepressant medication and those with serious depression or bipolar disorder who have not responded to other treatments. ECT is also appropriate for patients with serious catatonia, and some patients with schizophrenia. Call for detailed information.
