Areas for interaction include: accompanying staff and individual on medical appointments and on outings into local communities assisting one-on-one in the vocational training program being a SPECIAL FRIEND to someone living in an AHRC group home, assisting with leisure activities and areas of fund raising activities.

Offer a telephone support line (HeartLine) , a semi-annual newsletter and meetings focused on health related topics, special events (trips, outings and dinners).

Volunteer opportunities include, patient care support, 11th Hour (sitting with a dying patient and providing emotional support to the family), pet therapy (dog owners can accompany their pet to visit patients), and clerical duties.

Assists in the recovery of military veterans who have suffered emotional and/or physical injuries. Horses have a special ability to help people work through emotional barriers without shame or stigma. This program is an EAGALA designated military program. We embrace the empathic gifts that come naturally to the horses to assist struggling humans. Through groundwork equine therapy, we empower those living in grief, allowing for healing and providing steps toward creating a new life, all through forming a special bond with an equally vulnerable animal.
