Parenting a second time around workshops available throughout the year. RAPP Kidz Club is for children ages five and up being raised by a relative that reside in Ulster County.

The Parent-Child Home Program provides two home visits a week for families with children ages 2 and 3 years. Each week the home visitor brings the family a book or educational toy that remains with them permanently. The home visitor models parenting techniques, emphasizing verbal interaction and learning through play. The goal is to help parents become their child's first and most important teacher and ensure that these children enter school ready to learn and succeed. Families with low-income, low education level and children, ages 2 and 3 years (can start as early as 16 months), are targeted. Walk-in, call.

Parenting classes for parents of children ages 5-18. This six-week class utilizes discussion and multimedia presentations to teach parents. This 12 hour class is appropriate for parents with or without a disability or who have a child/children with or without a disability. Classes will meet both Family Court and CPS mandates.

ParentChild+, formerly called the Parent-Child Home Program, uses education to break the cycle of poverty for under-resourced families with young children. ParentChild+ works one-on-one with families and with family child care (FCC) providers to ensure children achieve their greatest potential in school and in life. Our dual models enable the program to blanket underserved communities with school readiness supports and reach families with children four and under who would otherwise not be ready for school. Highly trained Early Learning Specialists engage families and FCC providers by modeling reading, conversation, and play activities. Through one-on-one visits to families and visits to providers and children in home-based care settings, ParentChild+ builds opportunities for the most vulnerable children and families. Since 1965, ParentChild+ has been assisting under-served communities in replicating and expanding these proven models, setting children on the road to school and life success and strengthening families, providers, and communities.

Offers help in emergencies with such basic needs as food, prescriptions, housing, and heat. When funding is available, provides FEMA assistance for one month of rent or mortgage payments as long as the tenant or owner can demonstrate the ability to make future payments on their own; funding currently unavailable. Utility assistance is not available through these funds. Also offers a parenting program.

TPTR supports the growth and development of parents and children as caring people who treat themselves, others, and the environment with respect and dignity through competency-based learning and mentorship. It is a strength-based program to help families incorporate new, positive and nurturing patterns into their homes while being affirmed and empowered by mentors, adults who were teen parents and have overcome obstacles. Parents and children generally focus on the same topic during a session. They may learn this content through separate activities which are geared to their developmental stages and interests.

Provides assistance to low income pregnant women and families with young children by providing information and referrals for nutrition, health, parenting education, and mental health resources.

Offers knowledgeable and trained peer advocates who meet with parents, listen, connect, teach, coach, and empower them to be appropriate advocates for themselves and their families. Provides a six to eight week course in dealing with children and adolescents. Topics covered include roles in the family, personality development, encouragement, punishment, and rewards. Daytime and evening groups available. Support groups for parents who have completed the Parent Study Group are also available. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS).

Parenting education workshop for parents who are referred by the courts, other agencies, as well as self-referred parents who are not involved with the courts. Challenges such as substance abuse, mental health, custody and domestic violence are a few of the reasons parents attend the program. Several groups run at the same time and parents are placed in groups according to the age of their children. Workshop meets 3 hours once a week for 8 weeks.

Provides support to fathers who are getting ready to be released from jail,are ex-offenders, or on probation and want to be a better dad and provider to the family. The program identifies each father's challenges and links them to community resources. Participants attend a 12-session workshop where they will learn, practice and strengthen specific parenting skills, communication, conflict resolution, anger management, including financial literacy training, pre-job skills, resume writing, interviewing skills, and employment support to help improve their economic stability.

Provides affordable, quality educational and social opportunities to all of our community's families.
