Offers Speech-impaired individuals who have their own TTY’s the ability to call Suffolk County Disabilities Government directly by telephone to conduct business. Video Relay Sign language interpreters and a 24-Hour Statewide TTY Relay Service is also available. In emergencies, persons with TTY’s may call 911 or 631-924-8811 for dispatch of an ambulance, police or fire department anywhere within Suffolk County, 24 hours a day. 24-hour statewide TTY relay service is provided through the cooperation of local telephone companies for calls within New York State phone. Provides access to LI Jewish Medical Center, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York, Hillside Hospital and North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset for individuals who are deaf or deaf/blind who use the medical center. Services are also available for deaf family members involved in a patient's health care. Includes sign language interpreter access, TTY access, television captioning, hospital signage, staff education and sign language classes for hospital personnel

Encourages Spanish-speaking youth and families to participate in Club activities promoting intercultural understanding. Assists in translating Club literature into Spanish and helps families with pertinent Club paperwork and registration forms. Please call for further information.

Program that coordinates multicultural support services for the Hispanic/Latino population of Buffalo and Erie County. Services include Support Services, Interpretation, Food Pantry, and soup kitchen. Staff are completely bilingual and bicultural. ##REENTRY##

Provides assistance to individuals and families regarding health care services, work to promote the optimal delivery of health care, and advocate for continuity of care. Offers an interpreter in the an individual's language to facilitate communication, and connect people with resources available in the community.

Interpretation services are offered in order to facilitate communication between hearing persons and individuals who are deaf, deaf-blind, or hard of hearing. Interpreting American Sign Language or signed English as well as oral interpreting for lip readers are provided.

Services include summer employment program, handicapped bus, Handicapped Enforcement Parking Program, specialized library, newsletter, TTY phone, suggestions on removal of architectural barriers, information and referral, ombudsman who investigates complaints, and listing of accessible services/buildings. Independent Living provides a bridge between the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing cultures in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Dutchess Counties, this program is actively engaged in community outreach and education, employment, advocacy, service coordination, counseling and technical support.
