The Outreach Center at Cheryl's Lodge offers center-based programs for low-income individuals and families within the Shenendehowa district and beyond. A strength-based program that serves youth ages 0-21 years with serious emotional difficulties, developmental disabilities (if in foster care), and medical fragility. Enrollment in the program is voluntary and no fees are charged to the family. Staff meet with the family/youth in their home and other locations chosen by the family.

Healthy Families is free to anyone caring for a baby under three months old or who is expecting a baby.We offer two services; you may be able to participate in one or both! Frequent contact with a Family Support Specialist who can help you: prepare for childbirth, learn about how babies grow and what your baby is telling you before they can talk, work towards your own goals and dreams, have fun as a parent, and more!

Our services provided through Healthy Families of Montgomery and Schoharie Counties, are home-based, and are designed to support expectant families and parents in making a healthy home as they experience pregnancy and anticipate the birth of a new child.

A family-driven service in which caregivers partner with a Family Peer Advocate who has lived experience helping parents navigate systems more effectively, learn from the experiences of other families, decrease isolation, and gain hope, ideas, and information. Families can enroll in one or all of the following service components to best meet their needs:

• Individual Mentoring & Skills Development: Can be delivered in the home, community and/or office. A Family Peer Advocate provides mentoring, skills development, support, and information on community resources and linkage to other services.

• Family Advocacy: This service is short term and provides instruction, support, and advocacy in areas such as School and Committee of Special Education (CSE), court (preparedness and support), and systems navigation (working with providers in various systems of care).

• Parent Education & Empowerment Groups: Trainings and support groups that provide information on community resources, parent connections, and skills development. Offers opportunities for parents/caregivers to connect and build natural community supports with other parents/caregivers facing similar challenges.

Provides a community-based system of care for families of children with disabilities. Offers both formal and informal services, with an emphasis on self-determination and family control, to help support families with children who have a disability. Offers family engagement activities, peer support, advocacy training, and parenting groups and classes.

Creates multi-agency and public/private partnerships with Early Head Start and Head Start programs at the state level. These partnerships are intended to help build early childhood systems, enhance access to comprehensive services for low-income families, encourage collaboration among Head Start and other programs and services, and facilitate the involvement of Head Start in state policies, plans, processes and decisions affecting Head Start target populations. Priority issues are violence prevention, service acquisition, information access and coordination of planning and policy with other state, public, and private programs.
