The Cash Management System (CAMS) coordinates and oversees all aspects of overpayment and advance payment collections for all benefit programs. Follows up on all repayment agreements. Negotiates mutually acceptable repayment arrangements, and as a last resort, refers matters for civil litigation when necessary. Unit also pays for burials in the death of an indigent individual.

Responsible for responding to the scene of an incident of death in order to perform preliminary investigation as to the cause and manner of death. Coroners are dispatched by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department. In certain instances, a case may be referred to the Monroe County Medical Examiner (ME) for comprehensive medicolegal death investigation services including autopsy and post-mortem toxicology.
Coroners also play a role in developing the county’s mass casualty/fatality plan in preparation for catastrophic incidents which could be caused by natural, accidental, criminal, or infectious means.
