Computer literacy training programs include Internet job search, Microsoft Word and Excel, LinkedIn, Indeed, Zoom, keyboarding basics, and KnowledgeWave training programs.

Provides both vocational and community integration services and serves as a job placement center for special needs populations in Nassau County. Our program provides outreach and/or mentorship to those with severe persistent mental illness and co- occurring disorders that may also include co-morbid health issues. The overall mission is to assist those in our program to enter the workplace as quickly as possible. We work with our program members to achieve increased community integration and independent functioning to prepare them for work. During the course of the program they may experience different levels of integration and independent functioning: developing work readiness, volunteer placement or actual competitive employment. In addition we offer Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) sponsored services such as Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations, Supported Employment Services and Office Skills Training and Placement. Affirmative Businesses, also known as social enterprises, are community-integrated businesses operated by RSS where client worker-trainees are matched closely with jobs according to their skills and preferences. They are paid at least minimum wage and receive considerable on-site support and accommodations. These positions can be either transitional or long-term.

The Employment Connection, a division of UCP of Long Island , assists individuals with developmental disabilities and those with acquired physical disabilities to meet their career goals. Provides outreach and admissions counseling to help youth (ages 16-24) enroll in a federal JOB CORPS program where they will receive assistance in completing their education and obtain training in various trades, on a residential campus-type setting. Call for more information.

Provides employment training opportunities for adults with disabilities. Services include situational assessment, supported work, job coaching, job placement assistance, and facility based employment.

Provides pre-employment, employment placement, and post-placement services. Services include World of Work orientation, weekly job club, contextualized English Classes with industry-specific training, one-on-one remote ESL classes, resume preparation, interview skills training, job placement, follow-up, and advocacy. Also links clients to jobs and provides post-employment advocacy with ongoing services once a client is placed.

Offers career technical training in more than 100 career areas. Students receive housing, meals, basic health care, a living allowance, training, and preparation for a career.

Offers short term career training programs focusing on employment skills and placement services for visually impaired individuals. Both online and in-house courses are available which focus on computer skills, customer service skills, telecommunications, and work readiness. Emphasis is placed on computer skills including Microsoft Office, Assistive Technology, and hands on experiential learning. Also provides employment services including resume development, interviewing skills training, career counseling, and job search/placement support. Offers a cutting-edge endeavor which brings together both employers and job seekers, providing a comprehensive, one-stop approach to job search. Staffed with employment professionals from several private and public entities, the Employment Center functions as a full service human resources facility. The center supplies the job seeking customer with all the tools necessary for a self-directed or staff-assisted job search, and provides employers with facilities and workforce support. Equipped with state of the art computers, fax machines, phones, and copiers, the Employment Center also maintains job banks and specializes in job clubs, job fairs, employability and computer workshops and focus groups. Employment Center visitors are able to accomplish many tasks, whether it be to create and edit their resume, navigate the Internet for their job search.
