Provides Evaluations; Job Development; Intense Coaching: Long-Term Job Coaching; Travel Training; Work Readiness

Provides support, counseling, training, and life-skills for people with mental health and substance use needs. Services are provided at home, in the community, or through telehealth and can in addition to other behavioral health services you are already receiving. Services include: Peer Support Services, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Counseling, Family Support & Training, and Education and Job Support Services.

Offers youth development opportunities, prevocational career exploration, recreational and creative arts acitivities, academic assistance, and life skills activities in a therapeutic after-school setting to youth ages 12 to 19 years who are experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavior challenges. Participants are offered transportation to and from the program.

This program provides a self-contained learning environment with modifications as determined by the Committees on Special Education (i.e., 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, the Islip Career Center and Harry B. Ward Technical Center serve high school students who are 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) of age by September 1st until the age of 21. Special Career Education (SCE) creates opportunities for all students by providing them with the technical and academic skills needed to prepare for future employment and a successful path to college or other post-secondary programs. SCE provides technical training to prepare students for a successful career. The structured training gives students the tools needed to be successful in a job after high school and/or further post-secondary education. Each student is encouraged to explore various areas of study and to develop the essential skills to feel competent in entering today's competitive job market, while helping them to learn how to cope with their disabilities in the workplace. Services for developmentally disabled children include education, vision therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, wheelchair clinic, and outpatient clinic. Early Intervention provides evaluation as well as services in the home and at the Center for Learning. School Age Program provides services at the Center for Learning and community-based experiences. Summer Work Program gives students the opportunity to strengthen their skills and confidence while providing experience in the world of employment.

A community-based pre-vocational program offering people with developmental disabilities ages 18-26 an opportunity to develop the skills needed for competitive employment. Program takes place in a community-based setting, located on college campuses throughout WNY.

Offers a community-based waiver program with emphasis on theatrical arts including: acting, voice, dance, costume/set design, music, creative writing and presentation skills. Call for further information.

Provides employment training opportunities for adults with disabilities. Services include situational assessment, supported work, job coaching, job placement assistance, and facility based employment.

Offers transition to employment services to students with disabilities who will be graduating from their local district to prepare them for the world of work. Provides a combination of diagnostic, treatment and habilitative services to persons with developmental disabilities in need of a broad range of clinically supported and structured services. Partners with the Nicholas center to provide vocational training and work readiness skills.

Provides help to individuals who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions and have had difficulty obtaining or maintaining competitive employment. The program assists people in finding employment, of their choice, in the community. Staff provide on or off-site job coaching and support to ensure that once employed, a person can learn the job duties, feel comfortable in the work environment, and have supportive relationships with supervisors and co-workers. When the person and the employer feel the employment situation is stable, an employment specialist can provide ongoing support.
