Offers programs to students ages 5-11 in grades K-6. Elementary Level Developmental Programs includes: the Developmental Program which services students with various developmental disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of his/her disability. Program components include improving cognition with an emphasis on sensory motor skills development. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are put in place for support when needed. Students are classified as: Multiple Disabilities; Autism; Intellectual Disability and other Health Impariment. The Academic Program services students with learning and behavioral disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential. Program components include instruction that is comprised of the general education curriculum and which supports the Common Core State Standards. Behavior management, self advocacy and social skills are addressed. A building-wide behavior management plan is an integral part of the program. Functional behavior assessments (FBA's) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's) are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development. Behavior management, independent living, and social skills are also addressed. Where needed, discrete trial instruction and applied behavioral analysis are utilized in conjunction with grade level curriculum. Rockland Jewish Family Service offers a therapeutic social skills program for children ages 4-18, and a transition-based social skills program for young adults ages 18-26. Individuals who have been previously diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, PPD NOS, Nonverbal Learning Disability or Social Anxiety are candidates for these programs.

Offers a center-based full day program to 5 - 21 year old people with autism/PDD. The goal of the program is to help the person with autism achieve his or her full potential. Programming includes goals in communication academics, social skills, self-help skills, and the promotion of adaptive behavior.

Support services for individuals with disabilities provided in their home.

Serves youngsters ages 5-18 who are diagnosed as having a severe emotional disorder and who need extensive psychiatric support. Diagnostic categories include, but are not limited to: attention deficit, anxiety, schizophrenia, paranoia and affective autism spectrum disorders. Services include 6:1:1 or 8:1:1 placement with appropriate support staff at the Sayville Academic Center and 8:1:1 placement with appropriate support staff at the Sequoya High School and Jefferson Academic Center. Psychiatric, rehabilitation, social work, and psychological services are offered. Students who no longer need intense psychiatric support can remain at their respective centers and receive counseling from Eastern Suffolk BOCES staff.

Offers a wide variety of specialists who are available to provide evaluations. Resulting reports help the districts determine the most appropriate educational program, related services, or educational strategies for the students. Upon request, test results are reviewed with parents and presented to the CSE. The following evaluations are available: Speech/Language, Psychological, Vision, Hearing, Psychiatric, Neuropsychological; Augmentative/Alternative Communication, Assistive Technology, Mobility, ESL, language psychological evaluations and educational assessments (Spanish), Autism spectrum disorder diagnostic, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Autism Specialty Report. Offers social skills and recreation program that offers a recreational environment for children and adolescents who need opportunities for social interaction beyond what is available through school setting or community recreation programs.

Provides support for adults and children with a diagnosis on the Autism spectrum; individuals who have unique needs and a need for individualized supports. Activities include evidence based interaction and communication tools through specialized training for staff and families in Autism Spectrum Disorders, positive behavior supports, social cognition supports, sensory swim, movement therapy, assessments and supports for sensory challenges, and visual supports.

Offers a 10 week session to promote positive peer relationships among children with an autism spectrum disorder and/or a developmental disability. The sessions are comprised of role playing, emotional recognition, social stories and scripting. This is a private pay program and the fee is based upon the families yearly income. Offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents and adults who have known or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorders (autism, Asperger's or PDD). These evaluations determine whether a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder is appropriate, identify individual strengths and weaknesses, provide an understanding of intellectual potential, help in the development of a treatment/educational plan, and offer recommendations for effective strategies and support services.

Provides services for children and adults with speech and language impairments including screening, diagnosis, and individual and group therapy.

Provides behavior management, counseling, crisis intervention, family reimbursement, guardianship assistance, benefits and entitlements assistance, home modification, independent living skills, information and referral, parenting skills for parents of developmentally disabled children (in or out of home), service coordination/case management, support groups, and transitional planning for persons with developmental disabilities of all ages. This unique program supports our adults' continued development and growth toward the achievement of a well-rounded lifestyle and integration into the community, each resident is an individual person and we are dedicated to developing their interests and skills to their full potential. Residents are with a diverse selection of Presented recreational and community involvement opportunities including, shopping, hobbies, arts, and Special Olympics.

Offers a residential program for children with autism spectrum disorder ,and/or multiple disabilities to include autism that incorporates Applied Behavioral Analysis teaching methods and positive behavior supports. Programming focuses on life skills recreation and leisure skills, household living; with opportunities for participation in Special Olympics Events. Housing placement is based on age and level of functioning. Family outings day and home visits are encouraged.

Twenty-four hour residential program for children 5-21 years of age and residential and day habilitation programs for adults 18 years of age and older diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum with communication learning and behavioral challenges. Children's program includes education, social and leisure skills development, art, music, speech and language, dietary, medical and nursing services, life skills and transition training. Our adult programs are designed to promote each individuals attainment of independence and a productive life full of enriching experiences.

Services include: Comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations (for toddlers, children, adolescents and adults); Individualized psychotherapy (for children, adolescents, and adults with high-functioning ASD); Social skills groups (for all ages); and Milieu Communication Therapy (a language intervention focused on building prelinguistics and overall functional communication). The institute also is committed to providing ongoing support for family members and caregivers of children with ASD. These services include individualized counseling, outreach support, education about the needs of children with ASD, and assistance in utilizing community resources. The institute is also working on developing support groups for siblings of children and adults with ASD. In addition to the services provided, the institute is also active in a number of different research programs. Currently, the clinic is conducting a study on the effectiveness of Milieu Communication Therapy (MCT) in young children with ASD. There are also ongoing studies on the effectiveness of social skills intervention for children with ASD; the potential auto-immune connection for children with ASD; and possible Etiological relationships among the more than 100 families the institute has served thus far. Ascend Autism provides individualized center-based ABA therapy for children with autism. Our program emphasizes early intervention and uses evidence-based practices to improve communication, social interaction, and adaptive skills. Services are overseen by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and delivered by trained behavior technicians.

Offers preschool special education services for children within Onondaga County. Children are integrated into classrooms with peers who are enrolled through Small Wonders Daycare so that they experience inclusion as a part of their programming. Services onsite include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Play Therapy and other clinical supports.
