Maternity Center provides prenatal programs, baby care and safety courses, intensive care for premature newborns and those with health problems, full range of prenatal testing, classes in childbirth, Lamaze and breast feeding. The Center has its own entry and parking lot. An orientation for expectant parents is held every Saturday at 9am; call for reservations as space is limited.

Offers Lamaze program of childbirth education, prenatal care, exercise and information. Classes, scheduled frequently, are kept small.

Provides several safe and nurturing shelters, in various locations, for young women who are pregnant and homeless. Along with housing, parenting and life skills classes, job training and other counseling is provided in order to prepare them to have a better chance of success once they are on their own. Also one home is specifically designed to focus on the needs of homeless, pregnant women with mental illness or drug/alcohol addiction.

Good Counsel Homes provides temporary shelter for homeless pregnant women. Available services include educational opportunities, preparation for the GED examination, medical and psychological support, career training, on-site counseling, and a full range of Life Skill courses taught in the homes.

Offers a support group for mothers needing assistance in the early stages of breastfeeding. Listen to lactation consultant-led discussions weekly while enjoying the company of other mothers in a non-judgmental, friendly and relaxed setting. No need to be exclusively breastfeeding or have had delivered your baby at St. Charles Hospital. Call for more information and to register for our maternity programs. Registration is mandatory for all programs. No walk-ins. Classes fill up quickly. We recommend you register by the end of the first trimester or the beginning of the second. All classes are in person at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY. Dates and times are subject to change.

Workshops for expectant and new parents to maintain healthy pregnancies, have positive birthing experiences, and transition well to becoming a parent.

Offers virtual and in-person parent education classes that help prepare you for childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding. We also offer in-person prenatal yoga classes. Call for detailed information.

Offers assistance in ensuring healthy pregnancies and child birth including Medicaid and WIC enrollment , prenatal health education: nutrition, labor and delivery, confidential HIV counseling, advocacy and assistance in eliminating social barriers to healthy pregnancies (transportation, housing and other issues), childbirth classes, and referrals to other services within the community.

Provides prenatal, perinatal, postpartum care for women who need home care before and/or after the baby is born. Pediatric assessment, education and treatment for the family is also available, if needed. Also provides teen pregnancy prevention classes.

The Neugarten Family Birth Center provides pain management options and an operating suite for Cesarean births is available. Mother and baby education for the whole family is available throughout the entire course of pregnancy and beyond including lactation services, childbirth class and car seat safety checks. Offers supervised meetings where you can share similar experiences in a comfortable, caring setting. Depending on your needs, some health care support groups assist with specific conditions and issues, while others are more general in nature. Some of our support groups include: Bereavement Support Group; Breast Cancer Support Group; Breastfeeding Support Group; Cancer Family Support Groups; Caregiver Support Group; Diabetes Support Group; Dialysis Support Group; Gastric Sleeve Support Group; Prostate Cancer Support Group and Stroke Support Group. Provides nutrition education, nutritional counseling, breastfeeding support, immunization screening and health care referrals. WIC provides specific foods to supplement the dietary needs of participants to ensure good health and development. WIC-eligible participants can receive supplemental food package checks.

Healthy Kids is a joint endeavor between Samaritan Hospital and Rensselaer County Department of Social Services This is a unique home visitation program. The program is voluntary and free to participants. Family support workers provide a range of services, including childbirth education, infant care and child development, family planning options, assistance with obtaining transportation, meal planning, and referral to community agencies.

A support group that works to promote the benefits of breastfeeding to pregnant women, including education and support for new mothers who are breastfeeding.

Offers a variety of childbirth and child care classes. Courses include childbirth preparation, big brother/big sister, babysitting, and breastfeeding.

Provides the medical care needs for women who are pregnant, also provides a help line to assist new parents on baby-care.

Offers in-person breastfeeding support for qualifying residents up to two one (1) hour in-person visits by a trained breastfeeding support person. Funded in part by the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund.

A free weekly drop-in center where any mom can get support and advice on breastfeeding. Dads and families are welcome. Cafe is staffed by at least one International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
