Services include: a toll-free Breast Cancer Hotline for New Yorkers with and/or concerned about breast cancer and is staffed by professionally trained and supervised volunteers, all of whom are breast cancer survivors, and is available daily from 9am to 9pm. We provide licensed Social Work Services (in English and Spanish) which includes counseling, crisis intervention and referrals, in person, on the phone and via zoom. The program offers Support Groups which are facilitated for individuals and include groups for newly diagnosed, women with metastatic or Stage 4 disease, women under 40, Creative Arts, recurrence of breast cancer; we also provide two Spanish-language support groups: Cafecito which is a Survivorship group and Para Nuestro Bienestar for newly diagnosed women. Sisters United in Health (SUIH) is a coalition of local organizations that provides community outreach, health education, workshops and referrals for free or low-cost mammography and other health screenings to underserved communities. Peer Advocates provide an outreach program for recipients of mental health services in the community and for patients receiving treatment at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in the Behavioral Health Service Unit.
Peer-Linkage Advocates work with patients, family members, and outside sources, providing reassurance and notifying patients of all available services. The goal of Peer Advocates is to see that each patient has access to the best and most suitable resources.
