Helps patients achieve functional independence and helps to improve their quality of life. Rehabilitation can assist patients with proper body mechanics, ambulation, prosthetics, wheelchair mobility, range of motion and strengthening exercises. Callers are provided with information and access to two specialized programs: Wig Clinic - Women diagnosed with any type of cancer who are receiving chemotherapy are eligible to receive a free wig. CancerCare provides new and gently used wigs in a variety of lengths, colors and styles. Both in-person (COVID vaccination required) and virtual appointments are offered. During an in-person, 30-minute fitting, women have the opportunity to try on different wigs. Basic wig care is discussed. Breast Prosthesis Clinic Women with breast cancer who have had a mastectomy are eligible to receive mastectomy supplies free of charge. During an individual 30-minute fitting, women can try on mastectomy bras and breast prostheses with assistance from a trained fitter. Two mastectomy bras and a breast prosthesis are provided free of charge. It is recommended that clients wait at least six weeks post-surgery to allow for proper healing.
