The Bureau maintains surveillance for each disease through investigation performed by experienced epidemiological staff. Surveillance activities include identifying patterns and clusters to find common source outbreaks and tracing chains of infection to their origin. The Bureau encourages recommended adult immunizations and provides regular MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccination clinics for college students. The Bureau operates a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control Unit, investigating reported cases of Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. The Unit initiates disease intervention strategies which include interview of the index patient, counseling and referrals as needed, contacts & partner notification and follow-up and investigation of possible clusters. Medical providers are contacted to ensure treatment is completed. Clinical staff are available 24 hours, seven days a week to respond to urgent public health disease inquiries or issues.

WCHC Mount Vernon offers patients access to a convenient on-site pharmacy with discounts of up to 70% through the 340B program. The pharmacy provides prescription and over-the-counter medications, etc. We offer X-ray and ultrasound services at select locations to help diagnose conditions like bone fractures, lung diseases, arthritis, and more. Our ultrasound services include abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, breast, thyroid, and testicular studies.

Serves all populations with special focus on the medically under-insured, uninsured, and those experiencing homelessness. Also provides onsite lab, ultrasound, STD testing, COVID-19 testing and vaccines, health education/groups, blood pressure screening, and free walk-in pregnancy testing. Provides transportation assistance to help clients get to appointments and referral assistance. Participates in 340B drug discount program and has onsite enrollers for the New York State of Health insurance marketplace. Hospital affiliations: Sisters Hospital and the John R.
