Features bike education and rides for youth aged 11-14. The program includes 6 sessions on Saturdays from 9am to Noon, in May and June. Each session will feature on- and off- the bike instruction and a bike ride. The participants will receive a water bottle, patch kit, safety light, T-shirt and bike multi-tool. The final part of the program will be the Tour De Kingston/Ulster, on Sunday June 27th, which will include a BBQ and awards (go to http://www.tourdekingston.com for more information on this event).

Wearing a helmet is just the first step in an extensive bike-safety program. Bicycling rules, safety equipment, bike maintenance and selecting the right bike are just a few of the topics covered in our important bicycle-safety program. This half-hour presentation is great for riders of all ages, but it is especially helpful to young people who are just becoming familiar with the rules of the road and safe-bicycling practices

Hempstead Town's certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will inspect vehicles to be sure that car and booster seats are properly positioned and correctly installed. Technicians will also instruct guardians on their proper installation, recommend appropriate car seats and check for notices of recalls or possible defects for the current model being used. Generally, 30 minutes are allotted for each inspection appointment.
