Offers a number of educational programs on nutrition for every age group along with programs that focus on family relations, child development, and parenting. The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program and Eat Smart New York! programs attempt to help individuals and families with limited resources develop improved diets.

Yates County participants are eligible for the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program which provides free vouchers for fruit and vegetables and adult and youth cooking and nutrition classes.

The Environmental Health Unit administers a ten-hour food worker certification course covering aspects of proper food safety principles, prevention of foodborne illness, and review of restaurant inspection. This is required for all new food service establishments in Schenectady County. One person from each establishment must attend the course and receive certification.
