Designed to provide a model response program to civilians within their community. The presentation provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. This presentation is designed for any public or private building personnel, to educate them on how to respond in the event of an active shooter situation. This 2-hour program provides practical lessons on how to save lives. This program is available for all congregations, schools, offices, and businesses in the 5 East End towns of Suffolk County. Primary services include:

• Monitoring the community for the presence of communicable diseases;
• Providing information on communicable diseases, including preventative measures, to members of the medical community, the public, and individuals exposed to communicable diseases;
• Investigating outbreaks or unusual occurrences of disease, then instituting or recommending appropriate control measures;
• Investigating foodborne illnesses that occur in Erie County;
• Coordinating follow-up on animal bites and providing information on the treatment and risk of rabies;
• Compiling a community health assessment that provides information on births, deaths, etc., as a resource for planning or evaluation.

Participates in all phases of emergency management including hurricane preparedness, hazardous materials mitigation, and any and all natural or man-made disasters that affect the town. It is part of FEMA Hurricane Preparedness Program, and in times of emergency, fully integrates with federal, state and county agencies in providing disaster relief, emergency evacuation and housing and transportation for dislocated residents.

Conducts property transfer surveys which includes bacteriological water analysis and testing of on-site waste water treatment systems. Regulates all public water supplies as defined by Part 5 of the NYS Sanitary Code. Oversees cooling tower registry and reviews water testing results. Investigates special issues including rabies, radon, nuisance complaints, smoking in public, emergencies related to Public Health, West Nile Virus/Eastern Equine Encephalitis, mosquito vector surveillance, and control measures as warranted. Provides free rabies clinics for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets in various locations throughout the year. Call or go online to find locations and register. Responsible for food service establishment permitting, education, and inspection. Oversees permitting and enforces the NYS Sanitary Code for Bathing Beaches, Children Camps, Swimming Pools, Temporary Residences, Tanning Salons, and Tattoo and Piercing Parlors. Investigates and oversees the abatement of lead-based paint hazards in dwellings where children under 6 years of age resides.

Provides information on how to deal with and recover from natural emergencies such as hurricanes. Those requiring special medical assistance during a storm should notify East Hampton Town's Department of Human Services at 324-4947.
