The Incorporated Village of Hempstead’s Fire Department provides fire protection and fire extinguishing services, initiating life rescue, rendering emergency medical assistance, controlling hazardous material situation including weapons of mass destruction incidents and providing related emergency services.

Consists of five operating Divisions (Fire Prevention, Park Ranger, Ordinance Compliance, Waterways and Navigation and Emergency Management), responsible for local law enforcement and safety/security activities within the Town operating around the clock. Operates special handicapped hotline.

Conducts periodic inspections of public and private buildings for conformity to standard fire prevention regulations establishes procedures for fire safety inspects new installations for fire safety measures and investigates causes of fires.

Performs code enforcement and inspections, fire alarms, fire investigations, general inspections, industrial inspections, special facilities inspection, television and motion picture fire safety, public education as well as hazardous materials response team. Call for detailed information.
