Provides evaluation and therapy services in the home, schools and other natural environments for the pediatric population. Offers speech and swallowing therapy, occupational/physical therapy, special education, psychology, audiology, social services, medical consults and service coordination. Also provides Applied Behavior Analysis Services (ABA) and Special Education Itinerant (SEIT) Services.

Program serves disabled students, ages 11 through 21, who require highly intensive management needs due to conduct disorders. The program provides ongoing educational instruction that incorporates the Common Core Learning Standards. The services of a consulting psychiatrist are available for those conduct disordered students who also have psychiatric needs. In addition, strong emphasis is placed upon remedial instruction, vocational training and having each student's parents and family become part of the treatment. An after-school program is offered for students who are unable to attend a normal full-day school due to the students' disability(ies). This option is also suitable for students who are employed during the school day and who require after-school educational programming to complete their high school studies. Related services, support services and psychiatric consultation services are also offered for students who require these specialized services.

A decision-making committee to determine eligibility and the appropriate level of services for preschool children aged 3-5. The CPSE is a multidisciplinary team established to conduct meetings to develop, review, or revise the Individual Education Program (IEP) of a student with a disability. The parent or legal guardian is included as a member of the committee.

K-12 students with mental health diagnosis and requiring moderate to intensive behavioral supports. Academic instruction, based on New York State requirements, includes reading, writing and mathematics geared to students' individual functional levels and grade-appropriate areas such as social studies and science. Art, music and physical education also provided. Qualified students receive services from Franziska Racker Centers, such as therapy, psychiatric services, crisis intervention, family support/therapy and case management.

Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development, utilizing a modified Common Core Curriculum. Behavior management, independent living and social skills are also addressed. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program at Premm Learning Center emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are non-ambulatory and are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. Programs are offered at various locations.

Functional behavior assessments (FBA's) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's) are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Offers a program to a small diverse community of exceptional learners, whose mission is to empower students to demonstrate the mastery of defined skills and knowledge so that they may become productive, responsible and respectful individuals who appreciate themselves and others. Through excellence in teaching and learning, in partnership with family and community, this will be accomplished while creating a safe and nurturing environment. Tecumseh Elementary School, in collaboration with Sagamore Children’s Center, services students with mild to severe learning disabilities and moderate to severe behavioral and/or intensive counseling concerns. A comprehensive, structured school wide behavior management system is used. This program is for students ages 5-12 in grades K-6th. Student options include: 6:1:1; 8:1:1 and 8:1:1+2. Students are classified as Multiple Disabilities; Speech and Language Impaired; Autism; Emotional Disturbance; Learning Disability and other Health Impairment. This program is held at various locations.

Serves students with disabilities from the component school districts. This program provides a self-contained learning environment with modifications as determined by the Committees on Special Education (i.e., 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, the Islip Career Center and Harry B. Ward Technical Center serve high school students who are 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) of age by September 1st until the age of 21. Special Career Education (SCE) creates opportunities for all students by providing them with the technical and academic skills needed to prepare for future employment and a successful path to college or other post-secondary programs. SCE provides technical training to prepare students for a successful career. The structured training gives students the tools needed to be successful in a job after high school and/or further post-secondary education. Each student is encouraged to explore various areas of study and to develop the essential skills to feel competent in entering today's competitive job market, while helping them to learn how to cope with their disabilities in the workplace. Assists school age students from Nassau and Suffolk counties to avert hospitalization for severe emotional/psychiatric problems and students with psychiatric problems who are on the Autism Spectrum. The IDT Program is also a therapeutic program to help a youngster adjust to the community following a period of inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or a short term placement for youngsters leaving psychiatric hospitalization en route to day treatment or other specialized school-based services. Instructional staff provided by the Special Education Division of Western Suffolk BOCES in concert with professionals funded by the Office of Mental Health/Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center, provide intensive intervention to students on an extended day basis. The program also works with pupils who have been in a day treatment or other intensive school placement and have not been successful.

Offers information and referral to individuals regarding the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality as well as for individuals who have been born with birth defects.

Provides family focused integrated early intervention and preschool programs for children ages birth-5 years who have a range of developmental disabilities. Program includes diagnostic and evaluation services, full and partial day classroom programs, home visits by educators and clinicians, parent education, counseling and support and speech, physical, and occupational therapies. Provides a grade system of learning in a formal school setting from Kindergarten through 12th grade for students with multiple disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and developmental disabilities.

Mainstreamed hearing impaired students are eligible for this complete language oriented, academic support program in their home schools. Based upon individual need, certified teachers of the deaf provide intensive language development, auditory training, speech correction, lip reading and academic tutoring program as well as sign language, manual alphabet and lip reading. This service is coordinated with the curriculum thus, requiring close cooperation with the teacher in the home school.
