Provides strategic learning skills to selected clients in the local community and serve as a supervised training facility for our graduate student interns. The Centers are staffed by graduate student interns who are in the process of completing a Master's degree in either Literacy or Special Education. Each clinician is closely supervised by professors who are faculty members of the department. The Clients are Students in grades two through six who have marked discrepancy between their potential and their actual achievement and will be considered as applicants for various programs. Programs include: Individual Assessment: Each student is administered a series of diagnostic tests which measures educational achievement, physical factors and intellectual potential. Detailed development history interview completes the appraisal. An individual program is designed for each client based on the results of the evaluation. Literacy (Reading) Instruction is on a one-to-one basis. The major goal of this program is to develop reading, writing, spelling and study skill strategies. Offers two certificates in accounting that are meant for individuals who want to start a career in accounting or move up in their current career. Certificates include: Basic Certificate in Accounting and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting. The Basic Certificate in Accounting program is meant for individuals considering careers in bookkeeping and accounting without committing to a four-year degree program. Students completing this certificate may be able to find positions as bookkeepers, accounting clerks, credit authorizers and clerks, brokerage clerks, and payroll clerks. This certificate program also prepares you to sit for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) exam. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting program appeals to students who have a bachelor’s degree in business and want to: transition from a non-accounting field into an accounting job/career or move up in their existing career, if already employed in an entry-level accounting job. The 42-credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting consists of 12 undergraduate courses in accounting with which you can not only explore the discipline of accounting but also gain a solid understanding of accounting principles and techniques. Partners with community organizations to support programs for parents and caregivers that include assessment, guidance, treatment, and/or parenting education for young and developing families. Our trained and experienced clinicians offer: Supportive services for families with babies and young children in our clinic, on location in a school or other appropriate setting, via home visiting, or Telehealth; Developmentally informed, dyadic trauma treatment for 0-6 year-olds and their parents; Clinicians are fully rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), an evidence-based trauma intervention; we are the only clinic on Long Island able to provide CPP training; Consultation for mental health, behavioral, and/or developmental concerns; Consultation in childcare, school, or other group settings; Consultation in health care settings, such as hospitals or primary care clinics; Parent education and guidance; Support groups for parents, or kinship caregivers, in our clinic or on location in the community and Psychoeducational and reflective groups for parents in our clinic or on location in the community.
