Distance education is an attractive option for individuals who need flexibility and are self-motivated and can work independently. There is no difference in what you are expected to learn; it is the modality delivery that is different. The different types of online education courses include: Online (ONLINE) – engagement and instruction is provided by the professor through Brightspace the college’s learning management system, and students interact with faculty, other students and content working on their own time while adhering to course deadlines; Hybrid/Blended –Instructors meet with students in a classroom on one of the campus locations and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace; or the instructor meets with students in a virtual classroom i.e. Zoom and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace. Ergo, this is a blended format. Blended meetings may be weekly, monthly, or a specific number of times per semester as dictated by an instructor but meeting dates must be clearly advertised in the Banner course schedule and displayed in the course outline; Combined Online 50% Online and 50% online in real time; Real Time Online recreates a classroom experience with your instructor and other class members using live virtual instruction (Zoom) on scheduled days and times; and HyFlex – Simultaneously, some students attend on-campus and some students attend online in real time while all are enrolled in the same course. Provides strategic learning skills to selected clients in the local community and serve as a supervised training facility for our graduate student interns. The Centers are staffed by graduate student interns who are in the process of completing a Master's degree in either Literacy or Special Education. Each clinician is closely supervised by professors who are faculty members of the department. The Clients are Students in grades two through six who have marked discrepancy between their potential and their actual achievement and will be considered as applicants for various programs. Programs include: Individual Assessment: Each student is administered a series of diagnostic tests which measures educational achievement, physical factors and intellectual potential. Detailed development history interview completes the appraisal. An individual program is designed for each client based on the results of the evaluation. Literacy (Reading) Instruction is on a one-to-one basis. The major goal of this program is to develop reading, writing, spelling and study skill strategies. Written summary reports detail outcomes and recommendations. Special Education (Learning) This program is designed to assist students to improve school related tasks. Offers a 12 credit certificate program that has been developed to provide essential knowledge and skills in the interrelated areas of marketing, advertising, and public relations. There are two components of the certificate program. The first is composed of three required courses and the second is an elective course which enables students to direct their learning in support of their professional objectives. Provides free primary care and osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) services to individuals 18 and older, with or without insurance, who might not be able to afford care. These services are provided regardless of the patient’s immigration or health insurance status. Offers an Adventure Camp program, incorporating both on campus and off campus activities. The program is modeled on the popular Adventure Education programs that are being featured more frequently in school curriculums across the country. The Adventure Camp programs are one-week sessions for Boys & Girls (Ages 12-17). The program aims to create a fun and positive small group experience that fosters leadership skills and encourages campers to challenge themselves. Our goal is to have the campers finish the program with a sense of accomplishment, self-confidence, and a stronger sense of themselves. Offers two certificates in accounting that are meant for individuals who want to start a career in accounting or move up in their current career. Certificates include: Basic Certificate in Accounting and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting. The Basic Certificate in Accounting program is meant for individuals considering careers in bookkeeping and accounting without committing to a four-year degree program. Students completing this certificate may be able to find positions as bookkeepers, accounting clerks, credit authorizers and clerks, brokerage clerks, and payroll clerks. This certificate program also prepares you to sit for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) exam. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting program appeals to students who have a bachelor’s degree in business and want to: transition from a non-accounting field into an accounting job/career or move up in their existing career, if already employed in an entry-level accounting job. The 42-credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting consists of 12 undergraduate courses in accounting with which you can not only explore the discipline of accounting but also gain a solid understanding of accounting principles and techniques.
