A not-for-profit public interest firm providing free legal services to low-income individuals and families in Western New York. NLS aims to create the greatest access to the justice system for low-income individuals and those living with disabilities to pursue goals that will increase both the stability and the quality of their lives. Provides free civil legal services for individuals who are HIV positive or who have an HIV positive family member, including but not limited to: end of life planning, care and custody planning, child support, custody, visitation, family offenses, divorce, discrimination, bankruptcy, housing problems, and name change.

Provides free workshops for seniors, and others, regarding the issues of elder law and financial, life, and estate planning.

Helps low-income people obtain an uncontested divorce, with assistance from volunteer attorneys and law students

Offera advice and assistance in completing end of life legal documents including wills, living wills, health care proxies, and powers of attorney on a one-on-one basis. Notaries and witnesses are provided to execute the documents at the end of the client's session.

Offers legal services for non-criminal matters and non-fee generating cases only. An attorney provides advice on estate planning, wills, Power of Attorney (POA) and Health Care Proxy documents, assists with consumer issues and assists with landlord/tenant disputes. The attorney does not provide court representation.

Legal services are provided by advisors affiliated with the Center for Elder Law and Justice. Legal advisors may assist with issues such as advance directives, will preparation, elder abuse, scams, Medicare rights, pension benefits, landlord/tenant disputes, and consumer problems.

Provides walk-in consultations for people seeking assistance with civil legal matters, including:

• Divorce/Post-Divorce Matters
• Landlord/Tenant/Housing Matters
• Credit/Debtor Issues
• Reentry Matters
• Employment Matters

Offers legal counseling, information, and assistance with such concerns as Health Care Proxy, wills, guardianship, power of attorney, living wills and trusts, consumer fraud, contractual disputes, tenant-landlord disputes, home ownership questions, neighbor disputes, Social Security questions, Medicare and Medicaid related problems, SSI application, and eligibility questions.
