Provides court mandated 26, 40, and 52 session educational programs for male domestic violence offenders. Serves as an accountability mechanism for the domestic violence, civil, and criminal courts, as well as agents of the courts--probation, parole, and Child Protective Services (CPS)--as part of a coordinated civil and criminal justice response to men's violence against a partner. Men may also participate voluntarily.

Provides a number of support services for anyone who is a victim of domestic violence and sexual assault. The DUI Victim Impact Panel Program is an awareness program for offenders convicted of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. The panels consist of a non-confrontational presentation consisting of crime victims telling their own personal stories of how impaired drivers forever changed their lives. The panel presents a unique perspective to the offender that is often overlooked or simply cannot be taught by the courts and the DUI offender schools. Outpatient mental health services including individual, marital, family, parent, and group therapy; depression and anxiety counseling; psychiatric assessment and treatment; medication management and provision; crisis intervention and case management; specialized programs in stress management; domestic violence intervention for victims and perpetrators; and trauma recovery.

Latinas Prosperando or Thriving Latinas program is for Latina immigrant women who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking. Case management, ESL classes, financial literacy, education on housing search options, and workforce development support is provided. Knitting Our Stories - Tejiendo Nuestras Historias, provides a safe space where women can learn to heal from past traumatic experiences through a culturally-adapted support group and art therapy.

DVU supervises cases referred by the courts for persons who have committed domestic violence offenses and insures compliance for court orders.

Responsible for the service and enforcement of orders of protection throughout Suffolk County. They also arrest individuals charged with violating orders of protection and those with family offense related warrants. The Unit provides victims with a safe refuge by removing batterers from the home, seizing weapons and executing arrest warrants against the perpetrators of domestic violence. Assists all victims regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Provides court and service accompaniment, support, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence. Offers crisis intervention, case management, individual and group counseling.

Provides emergency financial assistance, domestic violence offenders program, counseling, parent and child counseling services, kinship caregiver program, care coordination, food and clothing assistance, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), and referrals as needed.

Provides follow-up and referral services to adult victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Program works to enhance victim safety and support as well as perpetrator accountability. Staff collaborates with Jamestown City Court, Chautauqua County District Attorney's office, Catholic Charities (domestic violence classes for men), Chautauqua County Probation/Parole, Salvation Army, and many other human service counseling agencies to provide a coordinated community response to domestic violence. Facilitates the Chautauqua County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Coalition consists of service providers, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel, clergy, and business sectors that meet every other month to address the needs of those affected by interpersonal violence. Offers substance abuse and alcohol treatment services in English and Spanish to special need clients. Specialized care includes a woman's track that employs a trauma informed framework, a mentally ill chemical abuser (MICA) program, a batterer intervention program for clients mandated to treatment or referred from parole/probation or Integrated Domestic Violence courts, and OMH Adult Satellite Clinic that serves adults and young adults with mental health and substance abuse. Provides assistance to individuals who have a history of aggressive behavior with the opportunities of change learned behaviors through education. Clients are educated on the legal implications of their behavior as well as its efforts on their significant other and family members. Emphasis is placed on learning to take responsibility for one's behavior and learning to control violent impulses. Clients are given information on counseling services available to them and their families.

Investigating all reported domestic incidents and providing assistance to victims of Domestic Violence. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau of the Suffolk County Police Department conducts confidential investigations involving domestic violence and elder abuse, and acts as a liaison to the courts, outside agencies and governmental entities. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau also provides outreach to victims of domestic violence and raises community awareness through education regarding family violence issues. Program works closely with the Niagara Country District Attorney's office to assist in achieving an outcome that the complainant/victim is satisfied with. If you feel you may be involved in a domestic violence relationship or have questions regarding domestic violence, the "Key To Lockout" Program may be able to assist you with filing a report, seeking an order of protection, safety planning for you and your children, court advocacy, and referrals to community agencies such as emergency shelters, counseling programs, and family court.
