HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP) | SUFFOLK COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING

Offers HEAP which is a federally funded program that issues heating benefits to supplement a household’s annual energy cost. Suffolk County Office for the Aging processes applications for individuals over the age of 60 who are not currently receiving SNAP (formally known as Food Stamps) or Temporary Assistance. For more information, current income guidelines, and benefit amounts contact the Office for the Aging HEAP Hotline at 631-853-8326. Application Dates: The 2025-2026 Regular HEAP benefit opened December 1, 2025. The 2024-2025 Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement (HERR) benefit closed May 9, 2025. Please check back for updates regarding HERR. The 2025-2026 Emergency HEAP benefit is scheduled to open January 2, 2026. For the 2025-2026 program year, New York State HEAP will not operate the HEAP Heating Equipment Clean and Tune benefit component. The 2025-2026 HEAP Cooling Assistance Benefit is scheduled to open April 15, 2026.
