COMMUNITY CREDIBLE MESSENGER INITIATIVE (CCMI) | ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL OF SUFFOLK (EOC)

Supports youth involved in the justice system as they transition back into their communities. CCMI assigns Credible Messengers—mentors who share similar life experiences—to guide youth who have faced incarceration or out-of-home placements. In addition, Parent Partners provide direct support to families navigating the challenges of raising system-involved children. This trauma-informed, community-based initiative serves both Suffolk and Nassau counties and addresses barriers such as housing, education, legal support, and job readiness. Youth also receive mentoring, career exploration through work-based learning, stipends, and monthly family dinners to promote healing and growth.
