Eligibility

Children age 3 to 5 who demonstrate delays or have an eligible diagnosis. Eligibility is determined after clinical assessment is completed

Required documents

Intake occurs at the child's school district. A referral made via a phone call to the CPSE office at the child's home school district is required. School districts served in Schenectady County include Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Central Schools, Duanesburg Central Schools, Mohonasen Central Schools, Niskayuna Central Schools, Schalmont Central Schools, Schenectady City School District, Scotis-Glenville School District, and South Colonie Central Schools.

The Preschool Special Education Program serves children ages 3 to 5 who are physically, mentally or developmentally disabled, and who are approved by their local school district's Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). The county contracts with and pays all preschool providers and sits in on the CPSE meetings.
