Application process
Please call 311 or (516)869-6311 at lease one day in advance to make a PI Taxi reservation. For a next day ride, please call before 4pm. Same day rides are not available.

The Town of North Hempstead and your local licensed taxi companies are proud to offer transportation services for non-emergency medical visits and food shopping to senior residents 60+, and disabled residents 21+ who qualify. Brochures are available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Farsi, and Creole. Food shopping taxi program (no charge for rides) provides transportation twice a week to local stores, on weekdays only, between the hours of 10am-2pm. If the rider has an aide, they may ride for free. Medical, dental or treatment appointments that are classified as non-emergency offer deeply discounted rates each way. Rides are available on weekdays, except major holidays. If a rider has an aide they may ride for free.
