The supreme court decides issues of constitutional and statutory law and is intended to provide legal clarity and consistency for the lower appellate and trial courts. Most state supreme court also oversee the administration of the jurisdiction's judicial system. Surrogate courts handle regular guardianships, last will and testaments, the settlement of estates, and decisions relating to estates of minors or individuals who are not of age or maturity to manage their own affairs.
