Eligibility

Serves residents of Erie and Niagara counties who primarily are over the age of 60 and have a limited ability to shop and/or prepare meals due to illness or disability, are incapable of providing for their nutritional needs, are unable to leave the home safely or without adequate assistance, do not have anyone available who is able and willing to provide meals, or have limited ability to allow for their special dietary needs. Also serves persons under the age of 60 who meet set criteria including physical handicaps, mental health issues, terminal illnesses, and many other conditions which may prevent them from accessing appropriate nutrition. (Please note that traditional eligibility requirements for the home-delivered meal program have been waived during the COVID-19 pandemic.) Service Area: Erie & Niagara Counties.

Hours

Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Up to two meals a day (hot noon meal and cold supper) delivered 11:30am-1pm, five days a week.

Application process

Intake Social Workers will take applications over the phone Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm; call 716-822-2002. Applications can also be initiated on www.feedmorewny.org and processed through the intake department.

Fees

Suggested voluntary contribution for two meals a day is $8.00. Meals Express fee is $14.00 per day for two meals.

Provides home delivered meals along with nutrition counseling, information and referral, and a daily check on the well-being of elderly and disabled clients. Up to two meals a day (hot noon meal and cold supper) are delivered five days a week. Special diets are accommodated and frozen weekend meals are also available. Offers a subsidized donation program for those over 60 years old with medical issues. Offers a fee-for-service program, "Meals Express", to meet the nutritional needs of homebound persons ages 18 and over and those individuals needing short-term or respite care. Title XX program has limited funding for those under 60 with medical disabilities.
