Provides year-round amenities, services and varied athletic and recreational opportunities to all residents of the Town of Brookhaven. This department strives to provide the very best that Brookhaven and Long Island has to offer and to enhance the quality of life for our residents. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Sports, and Cultural Resources currently operates one of the largest recreation programs in New York State, offering the following programs: Camps; Ongoing programs at our five recreation centers located throughout the Town (i.e. painting, dancing, arts and crafts, etc.); Programs for children and adults with special needs (i.e. summer program, exercise classes, dances, etc.); Special events throughout the year; Sport leagues for softball (Mens, Womens and Fire Departments), senior softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, and baseball; Swimming lessons; Tennis lessons and Wheelchair sports.
