Eligibility
Access to all Emergency Housing for homeless persons requires a referral by a DSS office location/hotline operator. For Nassau County, please call (516)227-8519 or the evening/emergency number at (516)573-8626. For Suffolk County, please call (631)854-9517 or the evening/emergency number at (631)854-9100. If you ineligible for DSS services, please call Long Island Coalition for the Homeless at (631)464-4314 during regular business hours and dial (631)464-4314 ext. 110 to reach the Street Outreach Team for after-hours assistance.

Provides critical time intervention, providing resources, immediate needs, case management, advocacy, leading up to permanent housing. Trained members offer crisis intervention and referrals for essential services, including emergency housing. Team members also distribute kits with clothes, non-perishable foods, blankets, and toiletries to individuals living on the street. The team also works with local shelters, businesses, and houses of worship to assist with resources. Please call for more information.
