Practices continual surveillance and preparation for potential man-made or natural public health emergencies. Examples of such health emergencies include: Bioterrorism; Influenza and Hurricanes. While emergencies can occur on a county-wide scale, they can also occur at a local level and may involve small groups of individuals. Examples include: Home Heating Assistance; Carbon Monoxide Exposure; Chemical Exposure and Public Inquiries. Contact the Suffolk County Department of Health Services during normal business hours or in the event of an emergency, after normal business hours and weekends.
